PERUVIAN PRIEST TO PERFORM SONGS AT SOUTH OMAHA CHURCH
BELLEVUE, Neb.—The Rev. Diego Cabrera Rojas will perform his original songs at an Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebration at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5005 S. 23rd St. in Omaha, on Friday, Aug. 15. The performance is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Rev. Cabrera Rojas, a native of Peru, is a Catholic priest in the Missionary Society of St. Columban, which has its U.S. headquarters in Bellevue. He is a member of the popular Peruvian Christian music group “pachAmérica,” and recently released a compact disc titled, “Contos de Fe y Esperanza” (“Songs of Faith and Hope”).

The free performance by Rev. Cabrera Rojas, who was ordained in 1995, will include songs from his recent recording and other songs that honor the Virgin Mary and address Catholic social justice themes.

Rev. Cabrera Rojas will also share stories of his experiences as a Catholic missionary. The musical performance will be primarily in Spanish.

Rev. Cabrera Rojas has recently been assigned to his native country as a vocation director for the Society after spending seven years on a mission assignment in Fiji.
